well if you want to read this go ahead its not a good story

well my driving life started out in may last year and my birthday present was driving lessons which i slowly got better and better at i then got told my my instructor to go for a test which ..... resulted badly and was at croydon test centre i end up failing badly and i got so many ticks it was amazing the examiner wanted to stay in the car.

then still with the same driving school i had a lot more lessons and felt ready for the test i then went for it and only got four minors but one serious as i went over a give way line that was so unclear it blended in with the road was in a stupid place and also there was no sign still at croydon test centre

then i booked another test again as the examiner told me and one week before the test my instructor got involved in a car crash and wrote off his car so he moved me on to a friend who was with a different driving school i had a week to get used to another car which was so much smaller and i could not get used to it in 2 lessons. i then went for the test still at croydon and 3 minutes into the test i clipped a mirror and i decided to quit the test and i was left in the car with the keys on my own waiting for my instructor to walk from the test centre.

i have now gone in for another test and have now gone with the AA and my test is in south norwood instead of croydon and i had a mock test today and i failed my real test is booked for 13 march at 8:40am

i dont think i will pass at all :P

Thats unlucky dude. Keep at it, and dont loose confidence and youll be fine. However i found that the aa were pants and that going to an actual private person was so much better, as they were on time for lessons and actually wanted to teach!

you need to stay optimistic man, if you say " i dont think ill pass" the truth is you probably wont, you need to be more confident, if the instructor is saying go for your test, he must feel that you have the skills needed to pass.

also the points you fail on, do you fail on the same each time? are they silly little faults made by nerves?

yeah man, like all the above said. my old school teacher used to tell me "whether you think you can, or you think you cant, you are probably right". also, have you ever tried using anything like Kalms, or Rescue Remedy? they are made to relax people, and are excellent for driving tests and such...

keep you confidence levels up :P aslong as you are confident you will be ok! just stick with it, take your time on all of the things in your test, and you will be fine! as you said yourself, the give way line was unclear, otherwise you would of passed by now! so you know you can do it!

Try not to worry yourself about it. When your on your test/or just a mock test, just try and think about driving normally. And remember you can always do it again.

In my experience (going by my friends) the ones that have passed their test the 1st time are the worst drivers and the ones that had to take it a few times are a lot better. So just look at it as gaining experience :P

Chin up and positive thinking. It will be weird trying to get used to another car, so try and get as lessons in as you can before your next test :P

Yes I failed my driving test first time around in the instructors Vauxhall Nova (so you can see how long ago that was).

But on my second attempt I used my own Mini (1975 MKIII Mini 1000) and I went at it with the attitude of if I pass I pass, but if I fail I fail big deal.

I even make it clear to the examiner that it was my second attempt.

Anyway I passed with flying colours as the Mini was so easy to manoeuvre (as we all know) and I didn't do anything wrong.

So that's another reason why I love Minis, because mine gave me loads of confidence.

Plus my mate who had already passed his test used to sit next to me and we'd drive all over the place in my first Mini.

So keep at it and try not to worry.

i wanted to do it in my mini now that all the rules have changed it wont be allowed cause its up to the examiner if they think the car is safe and with all the extra safety features its makes them feel unsafe so i am not allowed

i will get some kalms to take before the test and i have thought about them before but never got them

i went at it last time with i can do this and i will pass and i failed i really want to pass cause i know the route for london to brighton as i got a tom tom and i have been going for years and i also feel very comfortable in my mini like you said above but as soon as i am in a new car its just not so much there

i am really going to take time this time around could i fail for taking to much time?

Ere, I believe all the examiner requires are seats with head restraints and seat belts?

A few years back, my Nephew and Niece (twins) both passed their driving test one after the other in the mid 1980's Mini Mayfair their mother once owned.

Their talking pants because they want you to use their car, so they then get paid!

After I failed my first driving test, my instructor told me that there was no point in having any more lessons as I was more than competent at driving and I should just keep on running around the place with my mate (which was fair play to him).

But he handed me the paperwork to put in for a re-test with his car already added as the vehicle being used.

So my dad changed that and put our Mini on there instead and I passed my driving test in that instead. I never got back in touch with the instructor as there was no need.

So don't listen to those instructors, because so long as you're Mini has seat belts and head restraints then it's perfectly fine to use. Naturally I assume it has a valid MOT? If so then it's safe enough and good enough.

Well if you're happy to drive your Mini, then use it on your next retest.

I did and I passed no problem.
