a Thread like this is a great way to ruin your Reputation on a forum.

holy cow! I cant belive this thread is still going!!

I think the o/p needs to re-evaluate his original post (and all his following posts) and realise that he hasnt quiet come across as a friendly person with an open mind. Realise that with out putting different parts on the cars, be it an exhaust, or a new engine, chances are alot of these cars would be sat on a scrap heap.

I really dont mean to be rude, but it doesnt take a genius to realise that. It also doesnt take a genuis to realise that the younger generation do have a certain amount of peer pressure, and if this requires large exhausts, and pink fluffy steering wheel covers on there car, then so be it.

Cant a mod just close this damn thread?? The guy's obviously made a complete tool out of himself, this thread should be closed right now to save him from further embarassment if nothing else!!

Just thought id add to this before its Closed :D
Its been said by many that if a car is their property its up to them how they modify it and i have to agree ;) Though i must admit theres cars i see and not just Minis that make you stop a think what on earth were they thinking :genius: ?

Boris is pretty much standard but we plan on doing a few subtle mods to him to make him stand out from the crowd but nothing that cant be reversed ;)

Everybody has their own taste and theres no such thing as right or wrong even me and my partner Sam have differences of opinion Boris is her car really registered in her name but i get to play with him :P

I eventually want my own Mini and want an Early Clubby Estate, theres a gorgeous one on here called "Doris" i showed sam last night and she cant stand the colour :( But me does

In fact she cant stand most of the colours i love,Teal Blue,Bracken,Bronze Yellow,Tundra,Aqua etc :(
She also like the later Clubby Estates with stick on Stripes i like the ones with Wooden Batterns ;)

The point is its down to opinion, choice and taste nothing more nothing less :)

I agree if you have a very rare limited edition its better to restore it as is rarther than modify it but if its a plain old common Mini isnt it better its still on the road than in a scapyard ?

When i lived at Mums about 10 years ago there was a genuine 59 mini i used to see around town,it was hand painted yellow, had 80,s Mayfair seats, and plastic 70,s BL hubcaps but it was still on the road and to me that far more important ;)

If modifying should be frowned upon then what should you do with a Radford Cooper?
Restore it to original Radford Spec?
Because thats not how it would of left Longbridge :(

I like to keep my Minis fairly standard with subtle or period mods that can be reversed thats my choice but those that like to modify theirs beyond recognition thats their choice neither is right or wrong ;)

Just one last thought when i get a Clubby Estate if i dont like the colour ill respray it a genuine period BL colour but not necessarily the original colour.
is this wrong? I think not!

Lets face it if i was around when it was new and i ordered it new id of chosen the trim and colour so whats whong with me doing thats 30 odd years later?
Its My Car!

Jodie :)

lol

The answers pretty obvious really. Everyone likes to mod a Mini. I can't remember the last time I saw a Mini that wasnt a Cooper Sportpack or Sport that had no modifications on it.

i am surprised this has not been locked, if i had try to explain what a inline(straight engine) is on this posting it would have been locked straight away.

I think this has run it's course, I'll go through and tidy anything up anything rude or offensive later.
Once it's tidied we may reopen it.

In the meantime feel free to have a subject on why people modify their mini, but please keep it factual, and to the point.

In fact I may tidy this, and reopen it under that title, will keep me busy this evening.

Any problems, drop me a PM and I'll be sure to reply.
