Am I right?

Just want to know because for my next car, Id like somthing with a little more poke, also after another mini. (Yes, Ive got the bug)

No, not fast. Although probably quicker then a 1000cc Nova.

Even GT's arent that fast, looking at about 13 to 0-60(?)

will still beat the novas here and there, but when you think about it, how old is a mini engine compared to todays technology?!

you are better getting a fast road engine for more poke, or an ERA turb!

Yea, in fact I'm not so sure what was different with the Coopers, unless it had one of the Cooper 90Bhp conversions....

I think they might have been a bit more modified than a Stage 1?

my old 1275 GT was quicker than my 1990 cooper

but might be because the cooper has higher gearing :dontgetit:

Especially as you can fit 2.0 16v redtops in without much trouble!

:P Ive never ever, EVER lost against a Nova at the lights. If I would have, I would of sold it on the spot! :dontgetit: I used to leave them for dead at the lights. I thought Minis were quite quick 0-30 and as far as 0-60 it all depends on what gearing youve got. Put an 850 diff (something like a 3.6) in your 1275 and youll be laughing at most things around town.

:dontgetit: Your right there. I had a 3.1 diff in my modded 998 and it used pull up to 115 and then 125 down hill. A friend of mine has a pretty standard S with a webber, 276 cam and a 3.2 diff and that GOES!! Nothing keeps up with him around town fullstop and on the motorway itll cruise at 90.

Fit a Stage one kit, a stage three head, 1.5:1 roller rockers, a 3.7:1 final drive, have it rolling road tuned and yes, it's poop your pants quick. You'd be surprised how much difference the FD makes even on a standard engine, only thing is, you engine runs higher rpm at top speeds, youd be running 5000rpm at 80mph but getting there is fun :dontgetit:

The modern ( 90's on ) version of the Cooper is not a patch on the performance of the originals, and to be honest, struggle against the 1275 GT which is a lame excuse for a performance mini.. ( no offence )

however, talking of chav baiting, gave one in a rover 200 a shock in grotbag...
