Don't forget the power to weight factor tho, Minis are a fair bit lighter than Novas I should imagine. I had a 1.4sr Nova in between minis and they aren't that quick. I would say a standard 1275 would out accelerate and corner it easy.

well ive been running a stage 1 998 for ages and id never been beaten off the lights in that but now im running the engine out of 91 cooper but on 10" wheels and it really flys! I think the smaller wheels has had the same affect as changing the final drive as it pulls all the way to the redline in 4th, not sure how fast that is but its off the clock. Anyway 0-60 is mental, had one of those rover coupe turbos out of the village the other day! excellent !

Turbo cars dont stand a chance at the lights. Once they loose the lag your 2 miles down the road.......well sort of

Fit a Stage one kit, a stage three head, 1.5:1 roller rockers, a 3.7:1 final drive, have it rolling road tuned and yes, it's poop your pants quick. You'd be surprised how much difference the FD makes even on a standard engine, only thing is, you engine runs higher rpm at top speeds, youd be running 5000rpm at 80mph but getting there is fun :dontgetit:

What sort of figures would i get with this set up (10" wheels)?

Like the sound of a car that needs spare pants

I think you can safely say he wasn't racing, especially with a 19.39 sec quarter... :fear:

I'm in two minds really. I never really race at the lights, but go on the motorway and stay with a Bini Cooper S upto 115mph, really, really shocks them! :dontgetit:

Yeah but come on, when it come to the country bends. I remember when I first bought my thirty. I took it to Milton Keynes on a sunday night and had a propper ding dong with a load of TRD toyotas. I was running 165 falken tyres with the usuall suspension tweeks and I certanly gave them a run for there money. The last car in the group was an MR2 turbo. 350bhp is not hard to get out of these and it was certanly chirppin and wooshin alot. It took 5 roundabouts for him to pull up along side me until he realised every time he come near my A55 ill leave him on the next bend.

Tell me about it. I drive through it in my van on the way to work and when I look at my speedo its hard to beleive how well minis hold the road. Nothing and I mean NOTHING will touch a sorted Mini from point to point in Milton Keynes.

I have a 96 cooper it isnt really any different to any other 1275, just has the cooper logos everywhere. So no it isnt fast or anything, gotta spend money on the engine like people have said. Ive got a stage 1 and its a little bit faster I think but need more done for sure to get better performance. What other people have said makes sense, 4th gear is poo in my car even if it does get to 100mph

Think i need to get a job, yep i said it, so i can get bluemini to mod my MG head in the garage! And purchase some 1.5 rockers, well ithink there is still some student loan lying around...

But 1275 is a big difference over 998 especially at over 60mph, stayed with an nova SR with a near standard metro 1275.

Not an awfull lot. With a few decent mods mine used to out do 1275s all the time. They seem more livlier I think. You can rev the nuts off them as well with out them complaining too much. I once went from crick to Milton Keynes at a constant 5000 rpm on an engine i thought needed rebuilding :nugget: . Turned out it was an ignition problem and it never missed a beat from then onwards :dontgetit:
