I think you only have to say your a member of The Mini Forum,

When i was ringing around for insurance they (HIC) asked me if i was a member of a club because i could get a discount, so i guess you just need to say you are (and say which one)

and you may have to tell them what your member number is?
(correct me if im wrong)

TC's 1300 Cooper S with non standard paint, alloys, exhaust, full length sunroof and agreed value was cheapest through Sainsbury's! Beat all the Mini specialists by loads. We got 35% ncd on Jem's car in the first year too! She's just renewed with Norwich Union (she's 19) after a year with elephant who were cheap but C**p when she had to make a claim after someone hit her. We had to sort out the repairer, get a quote, organise the car hire and do all the running around, so be warned! (Also if you are under 21 check the courtesy car rules, you might have probs!).
I know things have changed but my advice is to get a quality company and stick with it for 5 years to build up ncd. The AA did a good deal where you get breakdown thrown in for free.

interestting topic this, I was expecting to pay 1000's for insurance on my modded mini (when it is finished). I will have to try Miniworld then, seems like they offer a very good deal. Always worth checking out what other companies can offer too though.

try tesco's , firebond.co.uk, and your broker, remember because they are a insurance specialist not a speciliast in Mini insurance.

I hear some many problems with some of them its untrue but from my experiance firebond are good and you can evan speak with the underwriter it there is a problem.

but now it does not matter as i have a wonderful insurance policy called trade

Hic just gave me a quote for £800

19
0 NCB
1000cc with alloy wheels

Is there a difference if I use the mini world number? Because I noticed that they use a different number then HIC.

Norwich union are willing to insure me for £400

There might be? You can always give it a try? You ask them whether that was with the TMF discount (15%)? My first year (19, 0 NCB, couple of mods (exhaust, seats, alloys) was about £800. Got a renewal quote this month (20, 1 NCB, standard 998), £275.

Ok:
Stuff to list;
TMF membership,
Buying MiniMag/Mini world every month,
going to shows etc regularly,
Do you have more Minis, and did you do loads of work on yours yourself? HIC gave me a classic policy when I am 19 because I managed to convince them I was a collector :smartass:
Got mine down to £600 with flipfront, st1 kit and alloys, with a big claim in January.
