Hell no, it's uber expensive, plus it seems like it's geared towards the BMW mini.

A 3-day Bank Holiday weekend ticket including MINI and Mini Seven / Miglia racing at the Silverstone circuit and much more than the usual Minis parked up type of show, although I agree they should have cheaper one day tickets.
(London to Brighton is £30 this year, Race Retro is £25 each day & the BMOC International Mini Meet is £55 per adult).

Classic Minis are welcomed although it is geared towards the new MINI, this is normally a very International event when held before in Italy and Holland.

Its a BMW event, and as such, is not really relivent to me.
I think there are far better Classic Mini events around this year to spend £35 attending. Atleast that way you're putting money into local club coffers and keeping them running.

Interesting though to see this news story in Mini Magazine this month (April 2009 Issue)....................

BMW supports IMM
Mini brand owner, BMW, has thrown it,s support behind this year's IMM in Birmingham - celebrating the Mini's 50th birthday. Despite hosting its own event at Silverstone on May 22-24, the German company has released a statement saying:
"The Mini heritage and the community involved in the brand's history is unique and has built Mini's legendary status. Helping to keep that history alive is of great importance for MINI and BMW Group. MINI will support this year's IMM with an exhibition of special classic and new Mini's, and a donation to support the event."
IMM organiser Mike Price told Mini Magazine, "We welcome BMW's support. Anything that can help and contribute to keeping the Mini alive can only be a good thing."

BMW are listed on the BMOC website "IMM 2009 Mini 50" list of Sponsors here:-

http://imm2009.com/i...o...n&Itemid=59

BMW were also one of the main sponsors last year at the IMM 2008 in the Netherlands:-

http://www.imm2008.org/
Quote from the Dutch Mini Club website:-
"An IMM is no longer a low budget event for the organizing club and it is hard to keep a promise to organize a low budget event for all participants. Therefore I would like to thank our sponsors who did help us out on the financial side. The biggest change since a few years is that MINI as manufacturer has become one of the main supporters. In our opinion it is a good thing that the manufacturer is interested in these kind of club events. It keeps the club scene alive and financially possible."

Tickets are discounted to £30 for the Mini United Weekend for LSMOC Members according to this latest London to Brighton News Article...........will other clubs be offering this?

http://www.london-to...o.uk/news8.html

Quote:-
"Finally, it might not be the L2B but if you were not already aware, thousands of people are expected from around the UK and the rest of the world for a big party hosted by MINI. The event will be held at the legendary Silverstone racetrack in Northamptonshire over part of the Bank Holiday weekend Friday 22nd - Sunday 24th May, the weekend after the L2B. I am told there will be something to give everyone an ear-to-ear grin. Activities from go-karting to slack-lining to bungee-trampolining, music from UK bands, competitions, racing – new and classic, even take a lap of the track yourself, relaxation areas, stunt shows, a kids’ area, a journey through the incredible history of MINI, special people from MINI’s past, great food, drinks, DJs late into the night and much, much more. Myself and the other L2B organisers will all be there to relax and enjoy the hard-work of someone else’s efforts. Three jam-packed days to celebrate! You can go along for just a day or an evening, or if you want the full experience pitch up your tent and make a weekend of it. Tickets £35 in advance for the whole weekend (£30 for LSMOC Members – see next edition of Mini Talk for information) and under 14s go free - Find out more and buy tickets at http://www.miniunite.../miniunited2009.

Well that is all for now, but watch this space for our big announcement in the next few days!"

Is this more of a BMW mini event?
I will be coming to UK for L2B. If this MiniUnited has many classic minis and worth to join, I will stay for more days in UK. Or else I will just go to L2B and visit motor museums and back to my home country. :)

Hi, all of our club will be going to this. We have a mixture of classic and new and we feel that if more classics go and have a good weekend then it could be a good weekend of fun. but if classic owners want to moan then dont go! simple as that. It would be good to see more there (as loads go any way) but to have more from the uk would be good.
As for the price of £35 for a long weekend is not that bad.(check the site see whats on)
On a little note our local dealer has told us that they are trying to get Paul Weller for the show, how true that is i will wait to see.

Whos moaning?

Just said its a BMW based show, and as such of no interest to me.
In my opinion (and it is just that) the classic side of this is just an after thought or an attempt to justify the 50th tag.

Check this vid out and tell me I'm wrong

If people want to celebrate their BMWs good luck to them, I hope they enjoy it.

But, please don't label classic owners as moaning because they would rather spend the money attending something more applicable to their vehicle.

:D Looks like the Mini United ticket now includes.............

Paul Weller to headline Mini United 2009
"British music icon Paul Weller will top the entertainment bill at Mini United 2009, which is being held at Silverstone race circuit from 22-24 May. Calvin Harris, Chris Thompson, Raygun and Twisted Wheel complete the line-up of outstanding British musicians, DJs and bands brought together to celebrate Mini’s 50th birthday."
