http://www.minispare...=... REAR PANEL
and one of these:
http://www.minispare...=...NEL REAR ...
If you're good at welding you could fit these yourself. If not you'd have to pay someone to fit them, which would probably give you a total price of at least £500. You could get a more solid project Mini for less than that.

well to be honest it does say that the rear seats metal is removed so i am not sure that you have much of a claim
michael
But the seller also says:
"may not look pretty from the out side AT THE MOMENT but this mini is structurely and mechanicly sound! "
Which it isn't. So there's your claim. It's unsafe and he's lied in the description.

excellent! thanks !
We're all being negative I realise, but we don't want you squashed in a crash!
I'm intrigued at GuessWorks idea of panneling like a van...
I presume we're moving the body strength into some kind of box section floor?
I've never looked at a van in anger...
Where are you - oh, fife.
Not local to me, or I'd have given the welding a go for practise!
(I'm no good yet, so you really don't want that!! lol)

He cant spell for *melon*, and contradicts him self like 100 times lol, and what 3 spoke alloys?
You could weld a piece of box section across where the 2 pannels would normally meet, i think this would put the strengh back where it is needed, but as said, you would need to seal if off because of the rules about fuel tanks and stuff.
Good luck with the claim mate, you deserve it.
dc, come weld my car, you cant be any worse than me, lmao. got loads of scrap metal and a welder too

nah if i have the line i got a claim and hopefully my money back! although i quite like the idea of getting this car back into a normal state once again so i may ask for the price of new panels and get it welded locally? what you think or should i just start again! IF anyone is local to fife please get in touch all help greatly appriaicated!
It'd be worth creating a new thread with 'Weldor wanted in Fife' as the title.
Those panels might be cheaper from a scrappy too, so it's all been worst case so far mate!
The main problem will be the flexing that *will* have happened already.
How was it transported? Trailer?

Reading that its a complete tissue of lies.
"Come and see it, oh no wait its at my friends house who doesn't like people"
The thing you'll have to balance is the cost of suing him may actually out way the cost of putting the car right.
Even if you get a judgment he probably won't pay.
I read this post yesterday and I'm still at a loss as to why someone would chop the back seat metal out. Having read the advert I'm still none the wiser!

Remove the parts that are worth keeping and bin the shell.
Putting in a claim with paypal wont do much - they are never interested in "not as described" claims, as these are vey subjective. They only really take note for non-delivery etc, which isnt the case here.
Your only real choice for compensaion is private action, probably via the small claims court - but even thats not certain. A car should be in roadworthy condition, but this is clearly described as an unfinished project, so I dont see you getting very far that way.
As for repairing the shell.... "Good Luck", is all I will say. Obviously, it needs he missing panels welded in. It also need the boot floor replaced. If the boot floor is in that state, its likely the heel board will need done too....what else? sills? floors? If you can weld and are willing to put in the work, its perfectly feasable, but I gather you cant do this sort of thing yourself? Paying a garage to do this.....you are probly looking at thousands of pounds all-in. Thats assuming you can even find someone willing to do the work - I would bet taking that to bodyshops would result in most places refusing to do it. It looks like too much hassle and too much potential trouble for most people to take on.
Learn from your mistakes, move on and find another car - and take someone with you who knows about minis to check it over.

Just a though.... Is it not also a legal requirment to have the fuel tank in a seperate compartment from the occupants?
