Oh and regarding the essential journey comments, either its safe to drive or its not. How essential the journey is shouldn't make a difference.

With regards to safety, I wouldn't like to advise you either way on that, it's entirely your decision and I wouldn't want to have influenced it if something bad happens...

I wouldn't risk it especially as one has snapped , how do you know the rest are not on their way to snapping

Because one bolt isnt there the others will work themselves loose.
Its happened to me before, having a wheel coming off while driving (not on the road) and I would not like it to happen with traffic around!

yeah it'll be fine for abit, my mate once had a 405 & someone stole a wheel & the 4 nuts! so in a quick repair we chucked on the spare & a wheel nut of the other 3 wheels "all wheels now had 3 nuts on" & it stayed like that for about 10 months being used daily
10 months, you mate is a moron who doesn't deserve a driving license.
Its idiots like that that cause accidents, I certainly wouldn't be boasting about it on an open forum.
Sorry, words actually fail me.

Or then again, it might not be fine for a bit.
That's like fallign out of a window.
So far so good, so far so good, so far . . .

Nope I wouldnt risk it, its like taking the bottom corner out of a building - it weakens it all.

I had it happen to me too with a hire car (Corsa!) in about '97.
Needless to say, I crashed it into a lampost.
(only crash I've had!)

No, don't do it, it simply is not safe and is not worth the risk whether the journey is essential or not.
I agree, i wouldn't drive my mini in this circumstance.

Could be classed as driving a vehicle in a dnagerous condtion - points and fine if pulled buddy - be careful!
Well the first (and last) time I took my Mini to a local tyre fitters to get a new set of tyres up front, the YTS pratt they had working there helping out that day managed to shear one of my wheel studs off.
I wasn't too amused, but they were very apologetic and promised to order a replacement and of course fit it for free the following day. But I had to drive home (about 10 miles one way) on 3 wheel nuts. They did claim it was fine though.
Anyway whilst heading back there the following day, the police were out in force with panda cars and police motorbikes everywhere on the main stretch of road into town and they were out to catch car tax evaders.
So I felt damned scared what with only 3 wheel nuts fitted to my O/S front wheel and my Mini was certainly turning a few of the bobbies heads as I drove past.
I got it fixed though and I made sure they got their best man to do the job and not the YTS tea boy!
