Thanks I didn't consider that I may not be able to get the stud side loosened if I can't access the nut...

I also didn't realise it was a bank holiday- why are they different in Scotland?!

But it wasn't a Bank Holiday in England!! (Maniflow could just have been shut as it was Saturday?)

Scotland I think has one today .. Summer Bank Holiday.

Yeah it was me being senile.

You Jocks get 2 days to get over yer Hogmanay hangovers & you get an extra one for the patron saint of golf.

Summer hols were originally so kids could help get the harvest in. I guess the ice caps have returned across the glens before August is out so you have to get yours finished earlier.

Not sure how much this Covid-lark is impacting companies still.

I have yet to see any after market inlet manifold fit properly.

I do wonder why.

I ended up (with my HS4) was remove the spacer and grind the manifold to fit the cables.

With a Fletcher inlet manifold and HS4 I just needed to remove the spacer - but it seems there's a cable clearance issue with the HIF?

Just looked at a picture of a HIF44 - the throttle quadrant is enormous isn't it! Can it be adapted with a dog leg to move the cable out away from the carb (or use a HS4 quadrant - although I presume this would alter the throttle characteristics?)

yeah the maniflow inlet is a completely different angle to the standard one, and it's also thicker. I still haven't managed to contact them, but I'll try a test fit tonight, with fitting the carb to manifold first, before fitting the assembly to the engine.

Good luck with that.  I bought a Maniflow for installation with a HIF44 and mine is the same problem as most.  The bottom of the float chamber fouls against the bulkhead.  If I decide to use it, will mean doing some grinding to get throttle quadrant clearance.  I'll probably go back to the Mini Spares one, the inlet runners have smaller diameter at the manifold face.  Supposed to give better velocity.

I test fitted the carb whilst attached to the manifold tonight.

This appears to be the best method of fitment, and there was no fouling off the bulkhead.

So when my new studs/nuts and engine steady bushes come, I’ll get it fitted. Then it’s on to trying to tune the thing..
