On a rubber mounted subframe there may well be no path to earth there. Did the old pump not have two wires to it (+ve and earth)?

yep it earthed up into the boot & earthed on the tank. The earth wire is still there actually so I might try earthing it with that earth wire.

Last night I spotted a loose connection on one of the wires in the loom (above the wiper motor). On further inspection the connection simply broke loose in my fingers.

So I'm guessing this must be the cause (as the pump did work before I replaced the wiper motor).

The connection was 2 red & green wires that went into a rubber housing & finally connected to just one wire.

where can I buy this style of connectors from?

Thanks

Craig.

Vehicle Wiring Products will do crimp or solder bullets connectors and then use a female/female joiner:

looks like the original was soldered. would it matter if I crimped the new one? & placed some heat shrink over?
