im building a 998 at the moment and would say cross drilling of the 998 crank is a no no the race guys dont do it as its not needed and really does weaken the 998 crank alot. the 1098 cranks are ok but do rev slightly slower also piston choice/size is a bit limited they are noted to be weaker than the 998 but i dont have experience of this myself. 998 engines are fun revy and do surprice alot of 1275's its worth it just to see the look on there face when you tell them its only an overbored 998 that they couldnt keep up with lol.

Yer the SW5 is going, want something a little more Firey. Any ideas In-a-mini?
I agree with you that X-drilling is a bad move.

Just come back from Swiftune, and spoke to nick, and here is something that people who think doing work to 998's and small bores are pointless..
He did a build for someone running a Weber 45 with a +60 Overbore, and got...over 100Bhp...so sounds pretty worth it to me!
