i have been tinking of doing a project mini for a while now so i thought i would come on here
so when i get my mini i was thinking of doing an engine conversion but i don't know what engine to go with as there are so many i know you can do the vtec and r1 and all that but what do you lot think, i want a reasonably fast one though with good acceleration so just looking for one in the rear or front
also i was speaking to someone last night and they mentioned pputting an evo engine in the back could that acctually be done
i know you probaly get asked this alot but just wanted to know some other stuff myself
thanks liam

Anything is possible... Just do it!

Even large V8s have been put into Minis.
If you however decide to buy some sort of fancy kit - go look what is on offer...

yeah well i just wasn't to sure if it could or not it would be alot of hard work though he said just to but and evo 1,2 or 3 and take the engine out and they are about 270 standard so that would be great
There are two ways: let someone else do the brain work and buy a kit,
or
start doing it your way. But yes, this involves lots of moeny, time and brain work.
It's not just about droping an engine in, start and drive away...
(Not that any kit doesn't, mind you

But in the end - even a 190BHP Mini isn't the fastest thing in the world and still can't eat Porsches for breakfast (but at least giving them a hard time

Being different no matter what it costs? Yeah, I know that...

I have no clue... Shell preparing (restoring), suspension, brakes, tools, material, and on and on - something in the 10ths+....?
Someone I know did a ED9 (CRX) conversion... He ended up spending nearly 14 grand (putting realy everything into calculation ad not cheating with leaving tools etc. out). I'd expect even more...?
Do it - you'll see, if you REALY want to be different, hey?

The answers to those questions will pretty much govern which conversions are open to you.

Loads of ideas and info on here for you, especially if you use the search buttons. If you can do the work yourself it is obviously a lot kinder on the wallet.
