Bump

Eventually got hold of a new park switch, fitted, now wipers work better and park, but rev counter still erratic :D

aside from the rev counter itself being duff, anyone one got more suggestions before I order a new one?

Thanks :D

Hi,

My Mini did the very same thing a while ago, with the dancing rev counter every time the car started to misfire. The problem got gradually worse until the car wouldn't rev past 4000rpm then it eventually stopped on the side of the road.

My diagnosis was dodgy points or condenser but it was actually the coil breaking down!!!!!!
Once I had removed the coil from the clamp, all became very clear, basically the coil had been vibrating in it's clamp and had worn a hole through the coil body which then knackered the windings so this could be your problem!! :techsupport:

Hope this helps!

Steve.

That was my other thought but my car hasn't missed in a while, anyone know the correct coil for a metro electronic ignition? :) couldn't tell you from looking at the one thats there already as the PO was right clever and painted it black the same as the block :)

edit: this it ? http://www.minispare...mp;tc=1#submenu
