    Starting My Mini Up

Hi everyone,

I make the Minifilms DVDs with Ian Stent (I film and edit them and design the website, while Ian does the journalism bit - finding the cars and presenting the films). Hope you'll excuse me crashing your forum (I'm going to post on some other Mini sites as well) but we'd love to get some feedback from you guys about what we do next...

We love doing the track DVDs with Bill, but to be honest they cost a fortune to make and the technical films we make are consistently good sellers (the engine build with Bill Sollis, Z-cars, and the Watson's VTEC conversion etc). We've been leaning towards doing a tech film, but there are so many potential subjects!

The track DVDs are where we started, but we're going to have to nail the subject matter on the head if we're to sell enough to make it viable because of the production costs, and the risk of rain which can really spoil the party when we're filming over two days.

So, what would you like to see? Action? Technical? Something new altogether?

We're a tiny company and in the current climate really can't afford to make mistakes, so any feedback here really will go into making a product you want to see and we can sell!

Get posting - even the mad ideas might be the best ones!

Thanks for your help in advance.

Paul

I'd love to see something on DIY repairs & maintenance, maybe a bit boring but could an in depth video on welding & spraying in your own garage.

I agree I think a dvd showing resto would be great. Or maybe one explaining all the usual mods to minis? How to fit a stage one? Changing brakes either upgrading or fiesta conversion for 10's.

Could even base it on servicing? Show people how to change spark plugs etc?

Haynes Manual on DVD?

A Mini is Born/ReBorn, nuff said.

The similar programs done by Mark Evans are quite popular ( http://www.markevans...engineering.php ), and share an existing theme with American Chopper, Overhaulin', American Hot Rod and Wrecks to Riches USA.

I strongly believe that a Mini restoration DVD would be quite popular, look at the all of the members of this forum, but also all the car/classic car nuts that watch programs like those listed above. Also, i've known people to flick through documentaries and when they see something eye catching or interesting, they stop and watch!

if its possible to get someone like vizard to put there name to it you know it will sell even better but then you have to give them a small cut of the profits.

i think a dvd showing what mods you can do to a 998cc in different stages and showing before and after performance. there is nothing out there for the everyday 998cc user. how about hiring nick swift for the day for the engine build with hints and tips?

Snap, just what I was thinking.:(
Been looking for something that covers similar depth to them programs but on the mini and found nothing.

Would be really handy and interesting, maybe a collection of the resto and then collection of modifying for those that want to take it a bit further, that way everyones happy.
