See? You know you want to do a V8 build :)
I really want a V8 but I just don't know where to start, I'm sure I can't be the only one :) I'll buy 10 copies if you make it, at least :D

There have been V8 builds posted on here, why not try and track down the members and ask them about it? IIRC the transverse ones sat on 2 litre Princess gearboxes.

Yeah I've done sick amounts of research but it's the niggly little techy bits I can't get my head round. I will contact them though but how rad would it be if they made a DVD showing you how :D

My 2p's worth...
I think a vid about lite restoration, eg, how to repair/weld the usual bit's on a mini that go like sills, wings and A panels etc. Also the 'doing it in yer garage' bit appeals as most of us have small garages. Also when the car is welded up and painted you could do some examples on fitting stage 1 kits etc etc.

The engine build was a top vid and a similar one on the rest of the car would be on my shopping list for sure.

Definitely the restoration for me, in association with Somerford Mini's? Follow them restoring a car from start to finish (a bad one with all panels needing replacement) all the way through to painting. That way the customer gets a great restored car(with video restoration history), you get great sales, we get a great DVD and Somerford get some great advertising. Win,Win,Win,Win.

Brilliant suggestions! I'm actually making notes of all the ideas in a little database, so they don't get forgotten. I especially like the one about following Nick Swift (not in a pervy way of course), the interior trimming and the "bucketful of mods" ideas.

Ian and I had a big meeting last week in a very nice pub and apart from deciding to spend far too much money on marketing materials (pens, t-shirts, carrier bags and even flag would you believe?) we've decided to make the first of our series of "short tech" DVDs on welding! Oh the glamour of it all...

But I think it'll be a good starting point. We'll cover everything from start to finish and do it with an expert in the field. 45 minutes minimum, under a tenner, job done! Actually if you've got any ideas about what we need to weld (panels, sub-frames, cages etc) do let me know - it'll all go into the pot.

It's got to be suspension after that from what I'm seeing here?

Oh - and see you all at L2B next week? With our flag. Come and pick up a pen - surely worth the visit to Brighton on its own?

If you are still looking at ideas for future projects how about a R1 front engine setup? I know you done a watsons honda front and Z-cars R1/vtec rear, but

You could follow someone like Pro-motive on a build? I know its a rival to the Z-cars one you done but it seems pro-motive and z-cars have a very good relationship towards one another anyway?

Just another idea for your database :xmas:

Would of thought new front ends are a common job to do as they rust under the headlights, so that would be front panel, wings, a-panels and showing how to line everything up with the bonnet and your panel gaps etc. Also sills would be next in line I think, then general patch work and welding in 'repair panels'. Common areas on a mini what nearly all owners will come up against during ownership.

Paul.
