Fair play, but I'll bet my bottom dollar seam welded sills are alot stronger than tacked on sills.

Thanks for the comments!

Hi Jack, your doing the same as i am with mine, think i'll be fitting mk1 rear lights
aswell , thinking of having a steel flip front lifting up from the front unlike regular
flip fronts :D thought it would be unique but found one on the forum yesterday :)

Your doing a brill job mines about as bad as yours, keep up the good work.

Cheers dude.

To be honest, yours looks alot worse than mine... but maybe thats because I havnt took the subframe out to do repairs :D

God do I hope theres no nastys that I havnt seen. Can I ask how much you have spent on panels?

Cheers.

Thats not too bad then mate.

I've hardly spent anything on panels, made most of them myself!

Dont want to be nit picking.. but what about the strengtheners that the subframe bolts go through and are welded to the inner arches mate?

I know, got to decide whether to go for coil over shocks and loose
the subframeand rubber suspension and fabricate a radius arm mounting
bracket or re-fit the subframe and pick up the rear mounting holes at which
point i,ll re-fit the strenghthener brackets. :D may fit a mk1 boot aswell :)

excellent project im currently looking into buying an 86 1000 in snapdragon yellow thats allready been deseamedon the sides and when i saw yours in your sig it reminded me off it as i wanted to deseam the rest and fit mk1 rear lights

just info here i can see you and your dad know what your doing from the workspace etc but on my mates mini his dad welded in a floor pan and seamed it outside only and a few tack and seam sealer lightly inside and when moted the test man failed ? not sure on what grounds as it was seam welded underneath but he said "as its a replacement panel youve fitted and not original it has to be fully seam welded same as plates etc" i thought was ******* but he had to do it

keep on with it this topic really interests me and please can you put up more pics of the process of the deseaming as seen the finnished article but like to see different ways people do it as t may differ from how i do it

thanks

wayne
