Have you had the ignition timing checked and/or made sure the clamp is tight on the dizzy?

I would double check valve clearances as well, just in case one of the lock nuts has worked loose, because that definately makes it sound like a van!

yea, thanks for all the responds, vally46 youre a star as always :D

just got back from collin, he took it for a spin, said its nothing major but he will check everything over, although driving it now after letting the oil settle it seems the noise has faded, got a tune up soon, ill know more then

i changed the inlet manifold?

could these be causing the problem?

sorry if it stupid, just ruling everthing out

the inlet came off a 998 with had a HS4 Carb on it

im running a HIF44

To change the inlet did you replace the exhaust gasket and was it ok before you changed it ?

Im a bit puzzled here mate,you said the guy at the garage said its nothing to worry about,now your lookin at a compression test ?
why are you doing this ?

have you got oil pressure ?if you haven't STOP driving it,it will kill the engine.

hey matey, well some good news! its OK! i was panicking for no reason :lol:

has a tune up today, needle profiled, carb tweaked, in the end it was kicking out 61.9bhp and 81lb torque, the noise was down to the dizzy, the clamp holding it in was loose! runs VERY smooth now and ALOT better!

money well spent i would say!
