Mr Bango,

No one wants to discourage you from posting, even if your written English skills make it difficult to understand. I can ask other users to be tolerant but it would help if you tried to use standard English & a spell checker.

Keeping the forum easy and enjoyable for others to read encourages more users and so helps to get your questions answered.

Have you looked at MG Sprites & Midgets? Chances are you're more likely to find 1098 turbo in one of those. Good luck if you want to beat a new trail - the crank strength (revs needn't be such a worry with a turbo) and piston availability are the 2 biggest hurdles I can see.

thats a real worry, strengthening the crank i would imagine is a diificult job? Are you saying that turbo'ing isn't a good idea? I mean i really want to try - and am not interested in a 998 or 1275, I wont something different for me to cruise in :D

You can buy an exchange crank all done and fit for the job. (ring Minispeed) If I had nothing to do then i would build a 1098 Turbo! I mean why not just remember that they are not good over 6K rpm for long. the plus side is its a torquey engine (not in Cornwall).
GO FOR IT.

I've got a 1098 in my mini matey, its a good engine, good torque i give it a bit of stick occasionally, just to give it a clean out :ermm: but as the crank breakage over 6k iv not had that, not had the balls to go any further in the rev range!! iv had it up to 5.5k but that was it and it wasnt for long, i was cacking it to be honest!

But i think what people are saying is its not worth doing a 1098 because by the time youve spent the money on it getting it to a respectable power and having good reliability you mite aswell have saved your money and just bought a 1275 thatll be faar better than the 1098.. just a thought.

In all seriousness, if you are thinking about turboing a mini, once you've learnt to spell, have a read of this site:

http://www.turbo-mini.com/index2.html

It's by a bloke called Phil and he knows more about turboing minis than most people. The 'where to start' section is the best place if you are new to turboing.

**EDIT** P.S. Theres no such thing as a cheap turbo conversion.
