Hi to start things off heres the project :

Only got these two pictures at the moment as these were the ones on the ad. (hopefully i'll post some of my own in a few days)

It's a 1969 MKll which has recently been undertaking a major restoration by its previous owner. He has been completly freed of rust and grime! The last owner had spent £2000 on restoring him and has done some work himself aswell, he is currently sat in complete primer just waiting for a rebuild.

He also came with lots of parts like bits of trim half it's original engine etc, but most importantly a rotten mini mayfair as a donar car! Hopefuly i can get most of the bits to get him on wheels at least from the mayfair.

I have 18 months until i start driving lessons, so plenty of time! However i'm funding this myself so progress will be slow and updates on this thread will be few and far between.

Any plans for the car will be mentioned nearer the time as at the minute its going to be a while until i can even consider how i want it to look.

just relised something after reaing the ad properly. the rear lights have been cut out and replaced with the slots for the mk1, will mk2 lights still fit or do i have to cut them out again and replace the rear sections?

sorry Charlie i have impatencience, really bad. lol. i realy wanted to stick the normal rear lights on so i guess its a case of cuting the back.

good news though, i have the mayfair sat on the driveway at home so tommorow its being blitzed!

Quick update, the mayfair has been gutted of most of the bits i need.

an old mate who i got a mini from a while ago phoned today to see if i had a spare car, ta dah complete coincedence!
any way he has a rusty mk1 with good front and rear subframes with rally suspension! YAY, and he only wants to do a swap so i can nick the frames and suspension for my shell and sell the mk1 on to keep the project funded.

i dont know to be honest, try it and see or ask on here to see if someone has done it.

Im going for bucket seats roll cage and basic simple interior, ie aliminum and that black carpet stuff.

looking good so far mate, was this on ebay not too long ago?
with the lights youll just have to cut out the mark 1 conversion bits and hopfully he's left the old bracket in for the mk 2

ermmm im not sure if it was on ebay. I live on the iow and thats where it was to (and iow registered) i saw it on wightbay. (a classifieds type website just for iow) An update on the standing of the deal on monday.

Sorted! for what left of the mayfair (not to much) and a favour ive secured front and rear subframes with suspension and hubs brakes wheels the lot. YAY! picking them up in a couple weeks, but in the mean timei've got to sort through all the boxes of stuff that came with it.

well, glad to see another mk2 is in the rebuild process What stuff you got for the engine? What are you plans?
