Can anyone tell me what those rear shocks are like, ie perfomance and ride. and also how is it you uprate the suspenion system, ie shocks all round. I would like a low ride aswell if that helps at all.

thanks

A very very long awaited update, (money is the issue) but any ways ive now got a job for the hoildays, im gettin around 400 quid so it will at least pay for the parts for an engine rebuild which i will do myself, and a few other bits and pieces.

Going to MITP this weekend so hopfully pick up a few bits then.

Ive decided on a color now, (even though i will probz change my mind by next year lol)

My inspriration:

Might get some pics up of it. Im just going to make a roof to keep him dry and a workbench to, well, work onlol.

it would be a shame to paint a mk2 in ST orange.... it is your car though...

just be aware that some of the mayfairs parts if you are going to use them as donors may not fit with it being a later model...

my shell is like that no rust at all

i got it for penny's

as an auto just on thing i wont to make the out side look old style and in side look modern

would that look go

I think I know what you mean, try finding pics of the "Bertone spicup" it's a BMW desinged by bertone that's really outlandishly 60's, but it works.

Back on topic, we own a mk2 as well! *high fives*
What are your plans for the car?
Interested to see the finished car now, have a soft spot for the older minis

Hi, for now just boring 998 for insurance purposes, and a stripped out interior with bucket seats and cage.

^Pretty much it for now. I was also planning an awsome ice system - 15" sub mounted on the rear bulkhead facing into the car, two small speakers in the rear bins with a board over them to make it a peaker box almost, and a few lil speakers under the dash. I cant wait either but money is the issue, being 15 i can only get the basics done and get it road worthy before buying ICE seats etc.

Well well, long time since i saw this thread almost forgot it :(

Anyways still not so much progress but i have secured the main thing... An engne. Its 998 post 74 so a little work will be needed when it drops in, ie: driveshafts.

It was an old engine i was going to use for my clubman grasstracker a few years back but never ended up needing it. Brought it home a few weeks ago and it turned over by hand fine so its not ceased! So YAY!

Last weekend made a list of bits needed - mainly service parts and a carb rebuild kit for the HS4 i got from MITP. Wants a little spruce up. Got some degreaser from my brothers work last night, went to get some engine paint this evening and Poopey! :mrcool: Only had Red an Black engine paint. Need Orange and Black. (Or red & yellow = orange and black)

So i thought i would pick up some hamerite whilst i was there to do my subframes. Grinder and sanding disc are out tomoz and so is my Gold paint! :dontgetit: I know you cant see them that well but hey, i thought it would look smart :(

So i'll see if i can some pics of tommorws effort... We'll see!

Spent the day grinding mostly! :( Had a sanding disc so went at it for ages trying to get as much off as possible. Then degreased the front subby and set up ready to paint for tonight. And the back got as far as finding a place to stand it for painting and relised i missed a few bits! So now im going to have to de grease it again (properly this time) and paint tommorow afternoon. If theres any left i may well de grease my engine whilst im at it.

Right today so far;

Re- de-greased my rear subby

Second coat of paint ont the top side of the front subby

Im going to be starting my first coat on the bottom of the front subby this afternoon. And the next coat and the rear will be done after school during the week. Plus hopefully im geting a few more L of de greaser from my bro's work at some point this week, so i'll soak all the bits and bobs left to complete the subframes and they will all be going in black.

Now a few pics :)

garage is far too small. Tell him to double it, you will only wish you had once its built.

tell me about it! it on the limit of the size we can build without planning permission. Its slightly off set so we have enough space for his cortina and the rest is got to be a workshop/shed, so it'll be tight :)
