First post so hello from me trying to replay my youth and enjoying owning a mini once more.

The Mini I bought off eBay seems to be full of surprises each of which brings a smile to my face however it's got a pretty crap attempt at a home made ally dash panel. I decided to add a dash rail top and bottom to replace the saggy tired looking one already installed and needed to remove this crappy ally travesty.

Behind this panel is an amazing array of cables all with some purpose I guess but there are some that I just can't explain. some of these cables lead into a digital box that is powered from a bank of additional switches hidden under the bottom dash rail. Now what has me stumped is what this digital box could be for so here's some pic's and I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on this boxes purpose.

Another interesting find was tucked away deep in the dash , 3 receipt type slips for SantaPod Raceway & Shakespeare county Raceway all dated 2006. Presumably these are some kind of race slip. I know nothing of this cars history and it was bought off eBay from a squaddie based near salisbury. He's had it for just under 2 years and never really got to drive it much.

Any enlightenment much appreciated.

has the mini got a extra fan wired in ? as that is what one of the switches could be for if it has . also with you saying it has recipt from santa pod i would imagine it has a kill switch to engine but i am just guessing here so i could be wrong . best bet is to try follow the wiring & see where it goes to or where it ends .

And all I got in mine four years ago was an electric shearing razor, and a broken pair of sun glasses (plus the usual few p worth of coinage, and a dead spider...)

Got the Kill Switch down the side of passenger seat so it aint that but the extra fan could be a good shout for one of the switches. The odd thing is that the LCD Box thingy was just hidden behind the dash panel almost forgotten like, upon flicking one of the switches it comes to life and pressing the buttone on it makes it cycle through some numbers and stuff.

Looks a bit of a mess to me. Personally I'd take it all out & start again!

Also found some super glue and the worlds oldest biggest mp3 player tucked deep in the recesses around the roll cage , so perhaps it was a glue sniffing rave monsters motor before me.

Thats ultimately going to be the plan but for now I just want to get the digidash to register the speed first, repair now restore later.

Doesn't look like that now but defo seems to have been used for some racing thingy so it may have had a Turbo back then.
