anywhere from a 1000 to 2000 just for a mini pick up shell that needs a lot of restoration from what ive seen from ebay because they are rare ! . for a fairly decent shell your probally best looking at someones unfished project with the welding done would be better for a starting point . the best place to look for them are in the classifieds on this forum , autotrader , the loot , & ebay etc & the odd chance that there is one on someones drive local that they might want to sell .

Austin, austin rover, rover, they are all minis just rover kept changing names over the years, and over the years there wasn't much change in design, just the introduction of injection in the early 90's onwards (first being fitted to cooper models then other model of minis in the mid 90's).

For £500 you will pick up an unfinished project no problem.

If you use the search you will be able to find any infomation you need on mk's etc and different variation over the years. Any questions just fire away :D.

Paul.

as far as I understand it, you have 5 seams on the mini, 1 running round the roof, and one running down each 'corner' of the mini, when you de-seam a mini you are removing these seams, usually its just the ones at each 'corner' however you do occasionally see ones which have removed the roof seem. You have to keep in mind that when you de-seam a mini you are creating weak points, so you would have to address that matter, how Im not sure of, but Im pretty sure that butt welding would not be strong enough (I think!!)

Personally, I hate de-seamed minis, I think that the seams are part of the minis personality!! If you do want to pick up a mini, I suggest a Mayfair, I got tigger (mayfair auto 1986-87) for £250 and she was pertty good bodywork wise, just needed alot of work on the engine!!! happy hunting  :)

Hope that helped Greg!!! :P  :( :) ;) :P

Edit- spelling again :tumble:

to be honest Im not entirly sure about the differences between Mk2 and 3 e.t.c but I do know that a pretty good way of seeing the difference between Mk1 and 2 is that the Mk1 had the external door hinges and sliding windows and the Mk2 had internal door hinges and winding windows (there are various other differences, but these two are fairly obvious to be honest) sorry I cant be of more help to you, best thing is to go to mini shows and ask the owners, they are pretty much always up for a good chat about minis!!!
