This topic hasn't been used in a while eh?

Got back from 5 months in Austria yesterday, and today I did an oil and filter change, changed the coolant, replaced the plugs and HT leads and set the tappets.

Still didn't get her started though :)

When I turned the key the ignition light would come on, but the starter wouldnt turn. I put a screw driver over the solenoid and that got the engine cranking though, so I'll have to check the wiring tomorrow.

Oh, and get it taxed. Helps.

On my 1964 Cooper 'S' I changed the right front wheel bearing, checked everything over, took up the rear brakes, did the points and plugs, polished it and checked the tyre pressures. MoT tomorrow. Then I did some work on the Innocenti - fitted the fresh air duct under the right front wing. MoT on that on Monday.

Fitted a grille end >_< haha. Yesterday was my working on Mini day, greased my nipples, removed the disk brake backplates (I thought they were touching the disk - turned out not to be, still don't know what the noise is), tightened up my exhaust, discovered a hole in my exhaust, washed it, soaked up the water from the footwells, stuck a union jack on the heater, picked up the custard creams from the passenger footwell, put a missing screw in the wheelarch (soon fell out again).

All productive stuff

This morning I removed the solenoid, cleaned it all up, checked all the terminals, cleaned the wires and refitted it all and still it wouldn't start! Gave up, had a cup of tea, chatted to a mate on Facebook. When I signed off I joked that I had to go and fix my Mini unless it had decided to fix itself. Went out, turned the key.. And it roared to life! Mental.. Sounded really healthy though, new plugs and leads doing well. Then fixed a leak on the top hose.

Then I bought some road tax! So I can go for a drive about now, but only at day time when it's sunny, as I still havn't fixed the lights or wipers.

You filled it with water? Or you drove into a pool Keith Moon style?

I attached two wheel arches (which required way more work than expected) and covered an area the size of my torso in P40.

I stared at things under the bonnet to find my coolant leak, new pump needed I think. And I drove to tesco, and I drove suz to work. And I squeezed it back into the little parking space the focus outside had left me. Grrr.
