cant you buy a billet crank to the same spec as the 1071 anyway for less than a grand?

Isn't that like buying a mk1 lookalike for 5 k just because the gen mk1 in the sAme conditon was 8k ?

No. thats a stupid comparison. maybe only for orgionalty on a genuine 1071 cooper rebuild would you want the genuine 60's one, but even then a crankshaft is a crankshaft, its the same spec, wont be seen and even if it was would look pretty similar.

Someone on here bought one "un-stripped" and it turned out to be a bargain - crank -10, block linered but okay and CR G'box (£500), you but your tricket and take your chance??

Offer him £500 cash (wave it in front of his nose) and you may get it.

I have heard of unground cranks fetching £1000 alone!!!

*cough* >_<

theres some numbers on the back of the block.......looks like...... af4.......then underneth its got written WFM1026

on back of the gear box theres A/626 DAM
BC&M 5628 or could be5626

ANYONE GOT AN IDEA OF WHAT IT IS???

ill try posting these pictures up of it,theres no engine number and its gt straight cut drop gears, double valve springs and twin chain vernier pully so its definatly had something done to it.

Get some pictures up Sean - they all sound like late A+ numbers to me, in which case it has never seen a 1071 S!!!
