This wee car really deserves some serious attention - it is obviously intended to fit a whole new front end, judging by the way the wing has been taken off, so it is logical to do everything else needed as it's going to have to be resprayed. Those scuttle corners need replacing, which means the closing panels beneath as well. Also, inevitably it will need attention where the fresh air vents enter through the flitch panel. The door steps are another obvious replacement and this undoubtedly will involve the inner & outer sills. The rear valence is a foregone conclusion as will be the splash panels associated with them. Floors can be repaired by welding as usual. All in all a bit of a job if it is do be done to last. On the other hand the car could be 'patched' to a standard that would pass it's next MOT with a lot less immediate work but it would NOT last, and the respray will have been wasted. The choice is yours. It ultimately depends on how long you wish to keep the car/how much you want to spend/how much you can do yourself/how long you are prepared to wait before getting the car back on the road.......

I'll be interested to hear what others have to say and what you decide to do. Keep the posts coming!

hi guys today i picked up a mini neon wich is 1991 with 88000 miles on the clock but the engine gearbox and interior has done 38ooo miles it has had new front pads a set of mini chelsea alloys and all bits it needs a new o/s front wing and has a bit of rust on the inside doorstep also got the part to replace that other than that it has hardly no rust but does have a rubbish paint job as it has been badly resprayed for half of it matt black i picked this up for 500 pound and is my first restoration so will need some advice was this a good deal to start with

Hi this is my son's which had done 25,000 miles when we bought it last year - which I believe to be original.

ahh coool , ill get some up of mine sooon :D There are different shades of nordic blue, i think the Neon is a darker shade, whereas mines a lighter grey/blue. When mine gets sprayed at Easter im gonna keep it Nordic Blue, but with a Silver or Black roof, i cant decide which one yet tho :D

hello ive got a 1987 city e and under my passenger window there was a huge whole so instead of a new pannel i just cut all of the rust out witch did look a bit scary at the time and then welded plates in behind i then used fiberglass to bulk out the worst and filler to get the shape overall it has come out better than i expected ohh i rust cured as well lots of it :D
