As most of you know, the Civic died on Wednesday. I have started looking for a replacement car today.

Went to look at this Rover 214, but the steering wheel shook and vibrated a lot, also the clutch was not smooth. While we were there we found this Mitsubishi Colt. It drives fantastic, feels like a brand new car. I'm very temped but it's only the second car we have looked at and it is an automatic. The price seems good to me, especially as it comes with 3 months warranty. Any advice would be much appreciated.

You'd be suprised, it was actually pretty responsive. Just wouldn't drop down as quick as a manual.

Maybe I would get fed up with in time, but it was nice to have the gear changes done for you.

Now where's my slippers and pipe?

Can't believe you would be willing to pay £1k for a P reg Rover, it's got to be at least £500 overpriced even for a forecourt price.

What are your requirements? Do you have a family, is your commute motorway, how far, does it have to be automatic?

Alan...

Requirements are that the car is local, because I need one now. It should also be the usual stuff, small, cheap to run, cheap to insure etc. Age or brand doesn't bother me at all, good mileage and a long MOT are the main plus points. I have to occasionally transport my parents and friends on short jorneys, so half decent rear seats is a must. Commute is about 7 miles, all of which is country lanes. Doesn't need to be an automatic, I'd actually prefer a manual. The Colt just happend to have an auto box.

That car is 400 miles away. Cars in the north are generally cheaper anyway. I need a car now.

Sweet jesus!!

£995 for a P plate 214!!

Guys on Crack!!

Thats a £350 car tops.

I've just bought Mrs Shifty an 03 plate 25 TD for £1300.

If I was spending £1000 ish on a car I'd go for a 306 Td, not the HDi version.

Cheap to run, cheap to fix and go very well indeed.

If you're going Rover the 1.4 k series can be prone to Head gasket failure, The diesels are very good(had loads)

How about something like a Mk4 golf?
