Keep the N/A 1015!! And try and get every last bit of power from it! be diffrent lol (thats what im doing no with my 1061 :P)
but if your going to go forced induction i'd go turbo. The twins get 140bhp from there small bore :D

You can get 100Bhp from a N\A smallbore, so look at that before diving into the Big Bore land and the forced induction (Cheating) route!!

Im just weighing up the cost though. How much more will it cost me to get 100bhp NA? It would probably be more beneficial to go turbo/supercharger cost wise?

Cost wise i'd say so yeah. Getting 100bhp from a small bore, you'll be looking at full race spec and will have no power below about 4000rpm. Would be totally useless on the road.

Was my intention, but with the realization that to get an A-series to big power is big money, and at the cost of reliability as a daily driver. So with that in mind im now picking up a C20XE at the weekend

Keep it Mini/5port ! >_< !

I'd say to get 100bhp out of an n/a small bore you'd be looking at 3k+ with a decent bottom end, im looking to get 80bhp out of mine but if i use a hotter cam like the 296sp and a weber 40 I think id be pretty close to reaching 90bhp
at the flywheel but as Mike says it wont be much fun in the lower revs, but if your using a decent lightend & balenced bottom end that would help a fair bit.
Might well be alot of monies to layout for an a-series but i bet you would have more fun than a vauxhall engine + your half way there.
just my opinion..

Tis true, but with how much this little lot cost, plus 200 for a homebrew subby I'm already halfway there. For 5k i could finish the car to my ideal spec. 100Bhp in a small bore will never be reliable enough for me as a daily, plus i know it wont be enough, and ill end up going 1340 turbo or summit. Small bore will be staying in for another year though i reckon.

Not joking, just rang the bloke up. Going down Saturday. Includes engine, 'box, driveshafts, ECU, wiring loom, all ancillaries etc.

60 miles away, and was too tempted.
