Anything other than standard exhausts will be better on performance but I wouldn't think it would improve performance just by fitting the exhaust, its when you change manifolds and airfilter etc. But if your fitting an upgrade system then its best to get an upgraded manifold aswell (otherwise use a magic pipe to retain the standard manifold) if your going to buy and upgrade exhaust manifold then you will need a seperate inlet manifold, you might aswell add the air filter and needle and make it into a stage 1.

Fitting an upgrade exhaust just for the noise is a lost cause to me.

Paul.

I can see how people can see fitting an exhaust for the noise is silly/waste money. Unfortunately as i have only been driving for half a year the prospect of improving performance is not affordable (insurance wise). I simply love the noise of the classic car exhaust, and the look of a single center exit.
So am i right in thinking that simply the back box with a step up or down link pipe will not improve my performance thus not raising my premium. No manifold, filter, or any other improvements.
Thanks. ;D

It's a modification from standard so you should tell your insurance, give 'em a ring first to check out any increase in premium.

Ok, so does anyone have a single or double center exit back box kicking around they want to get rid of. Condition not a matter, as-long as it is in full working condition. Oh it must also conform and work with a 1275 gauge pipe.
Thanks

Ok, so i have just bought this for 11.59.
Just pounced on it as i thought it was a good buy .....
I hope this is not a particular performance enhancing part. Just replacing link pipe and back box. Will this make a difference. Can i say to my insurers (legally) that it will not improve my performance thus not increase my premium.
Thanks

how about this for an idea, the standard exhaust has 2 boxes so why not just remove 1 of the boxes and strighten it so is comes out of the middle, the insurance cant really twine as ifve see standard minis with just 1 box. then or the looks just ad a chrome tail piece

just my thoughts rob

Trouble is with that exhaust, your gonna have to tell 'em what the manufactures claim. NO manufacturer is ever gonna say there exhaust doesn't increase the power, so you've *melon* it there Im afraid.

Ok, that makes alot of sense sadly... thats a shame, I may have to pay the premium then. I am not sure where the part is from i will find out and then E-mail the manufacturer and ask if it is any more efficient (= performance improvement) than a standard MPI system, keeping the cat. I know this may take some time to get a reply but could use their word. I have heard MPI systems are not as bad as some of the earlier (although cant bet on the person who told me that) As you can imagine i want to find any (concrete) way to keep my premiums down. Being fully aware that my insurers will (thieving ******) find any excuse not to pay up. :ermm:
thanks

I made mine centre exit got 2 cheap full pea shooters. Cut at the first box after on one and before and after on the other and welded her up. Voila a 5 pounds twin box centre exit pea shooter. Looks pretty smart but also stock.
