Wow. It's been a while since I updated this feed!
I would like to say quite a bit has changed, but up until last week it really hadn't.....
In September-ish, I gave the car a few coats of primer. Then the weather really started to turn naff for the winter, so I decided I could do no more until spring. There was no way I was going to risk painting the top coat with it turning cold and damp.
So I did not venture back into the garage to do any work really for the whole winter.
I did however get hold of a mk1 bonnet at a bargain price. Paid £30 for the bonnet and a box of bits and pieces, most of which I needed.
This leads on to last week......

So my weeks Holiday finally came in which I planned to paint the car completely.
I had already laid down a good few coats of primer, and also given it a good wet & dry cut back before putting it away for the winter.
The weather couldn't have been better!
Wheeled the car out of the garage to check out the initial paint work already done, and give it another going over with wet&dry, reprep any really dodgy areas.
then it was onto the spraying.....
Then came the top coats. Over the space of two days put on about 10 coats of red on the outside of the car (about two or three on the areas inside that will not be seen)
Going to leave it for a good few weeks before I start thinking about cutting it back, but quite pleased with my paint standard overall

Small update.....
During the course of this project I bought the 2 doors needed.
One is in mint condition, just needs a clean up before painting.
The other has been stripped back to bare metal at some point in the past. This has turned into a nice layer of surface rust everywhere. It also needs a repair done to the frame at the bottom - the skin looks pretty much ok.
So I chopped out the rotten pieces
Fabricated up the pieces needed, welded them in, a touch of (pageant) blue paint to protect the surface and some seam sealant, and Bob's your uncle!
Hopefully, this weekend I can prep the doors up for paint :)
