was this done with PIC chips or simple logic chips etc?

Hey

No PIC or any micro controllers.

My intention is to design something that anyone can build buy just buying the components and a bit of soldering.

PIC`s require programming that not everyone knows, however I will do a PIC version soon but it should be pretty simple.

PIC's...are easily muddled up..plus i think it could possibly be overkill in terms of voltage stabilisers..pluse generators...timing crystals....do not like PIC's haha

especialy as PIC simulations don't always work in real life...

bring on the circuit diagram :)

Suppose you could use a ready made Picaxe board to make it simple.

I'm an analog guy in a digital world. Sigh.

lol... just brings to mind the old saying

There are 10 types of people who understand binary...
Those who do and those who dont. :errr:

Anyhow let me finish up this project of mine.

To give an indication the total project cost amounts to R200 in South Africa. Whats the exchange rate? :)

I've made a PIC Tacho in work, still needing to be finished..

By finished i mean needing a completed mini to connect it up to! ;)

Posted Image

Tacho, Has 5 changeable inputs.. 16 Outputs, 14 Rev counter lights, 1 shift light and one spare (All can be changed..)

Posted Image

The wires and LED's yet to be soldered in as im unsure of how its going to fit into the dash atm!

And another cheeky little project!

The base for some LED Brake lights!

brake lights are fine to do aswell as the reverse but im sure you run into plenty of problems when trying to do the indicators too...

Should be solved with some simple electronics.. :withstupid:

Sorry for reviving a bit of a dead thread, but I've been looking into getting an LED 7 segment digital speedo, but I just don't have the skills to make it.

Was wondering if anyone would be interested in building me one, I can pay handsomely!

A speedo would require a fari bit of calculations/work.. hence why your probably best of buying a pre built one..

And also with seven segment displays if you have it updating too fast you'll get a blur as you last digit.. this all has to be sorted out and that's probably only a smal problem! lol

Hey all...

I have to firstly apologize to all those following this thead as I have been neglecting it.

My excuse is my studies. I was occupied with my final year of electrical engineering of which I have PASSED!!!

non the less I then took a month holiday and went touring overseas to the incredible India ;)

so I am here to say that from here on I will work on this project and hopefully finish it be4 new year.

Any thoughts or ideas are always welcome.

Thanks Guys
