I love the look of soiled pants on wheels...

Does seem like the people from top gear have a 75%+ hatred rate on this new concept.

Have to agree that the Slipper/squashed frog looking/ almost smart roadster/ Eugh/ taking the yellow human water look isn't really going down well.

It looks 'over-ripe' and trying (still) to prove itself.
Like a noisy kid in the playground with no mates.

It's the victory of style (make your own call) over everything.
When they win a few Monte Carlos I'll take notice...

It's just a cooper S with a roof chop. They haven't even put in any effort. It's the juxtaposition of that delicate, coupe roof, and the oversize masculine bumpers. It doesn't work right now, they'd need to do some serious bodywork.

Apparently MINI are after the Boxster / Z4 market with the powerful model and the MX5 with a less powerful model. It's basically a lighter MINI with better aerodynamics, so it should be a cracking drive. There is also a soft-top on the way.

But one problem... after a Boxster with front wheel drive?? I DON'T THINK SO

Anyway a mates just finished his intern at the MINI design studio, he says if you think this is ugly wait for the MINI replacement in January. Apparently this is the starts of the future of MINI design, there starting to brake away from the traditional design, moving it forward...

Never know if they do that some more of you purists might move to MINI though :D

Yeah because the Mini pick-up / van / clubman /cabriolet where all miles different to the standard round-nose model... MINI are doing EXACTLY the same as BMC/Rover did, just you many of you classic purists wont admit it

Back in the 60's there was a 'demand' for small pick-ups & vans, so BMC built them.

In the 90's there was 'demand' for soft-tops, so Rover built them.

Now in the 00's there is a 'demand' for small 4x4 crossovers and coupes, so MINI are going to build them.

I would have thought that in the current climate the demand would be for cheap economical cars, possibly involving new alternative means of power

However, I am anxious to see what they do with the saloon in January - could be good, could be bloody awful...

As far as I know rumours are that BMW is curretly developing a 'bubble car', similar to Mercedes's Smart and the Citroen C1 (and co.); a cheap, eco-city-hopper so to say. Sounds like a New Isetta, doesn't it? :D

I saw this on the front of Auto Express, I think it looks great. Kind of like a roof chop Mini.
