There are panels available to cover the subframe and boot floor area that work well.

I believe the spoiler on the Veyron is there for the same reason it's there on various Porsches and the TT. It's not providing downforce, it's negating lift. These cars all have a profile very similar to an aerofoil and produce appreciable lift, early TTs used to flip at speed due to becoming very light so the spoiler was added. Hence the term spoiler, it spoils the aerodynamics of the profile.

Considering the amount of lift on a Minis roof, what's the point. Just look at the panel on a mini with a full length soft top sun roof at 80mph, they stick up about 2" in the middle. Now consider the amount of lift that takes.

I knew someone who fitted a front wing on his racing mini, he even mounted it on sliding tubes with springs at the bottom and then calibrated the tube so he could see the amount of downforce. He couldn't actually tell any difference when he raced it.

How about this example of adding downforce:

Do you mean a panel that covers the whole rear subframe to make it flush with the rear valance and the bottom of the floor? If so where can I get one from??

I was thinking of makeing my own out of either fiberglass or maybe even thin aluminium, I thought it would help protect the subframe a bit, only problem I can see is the exhaust.

on my everyday car the spoiler was fitted from the factory i took it off to see what it looked like and went for a drive it was terrible no rear end grip at all. at about 55-60mph the center of it moves about a bit so the air flow is there so it must be doing something

i think a rear subframe cover and diffuser would work to some extent because its directed out from under the car better rather than swirling about in the subframe, exhaust and rear valance

Spoilers on road cars are for looks alone. If you want usefull downforce, you need to fit something like a BTCC or F1 style rear wing.
A chap I know works in the aerodynamics industry. When he bought his scooby wrx, he did some calculations regarding its spoiler. Seemingly, at normal speeds its effects are negilgable, and at 100mph it gives less that 15kgs downforce. On the other hand, it massively increases drag and therefor fuel consumption.

Just for information, I heard from someone in the know that the BTCC Rear wing actually did not create any downforce. It was purely for show. They were all wind tunnel tested to ensure that they did not enhance the performance of the standard car.
