i was standing in the indian take away the other day and a you lad of about 14/15 came in and said "can i get a plain naan bread bruv" which is all well and good, the only thing is the way he spoke. ive noticed loads of kids nowadays talking in a funny way, they only way i can describe it is like a jamaican crossed with london. i almost asked him where he came from lol he then went back outside where all his mates were and they were all talking like it.

then i watched a bit of the film "adulthood" last night and they were doing the same! when i was younger (which isnt all that long ago) someone talking like that would have been seen as acting for a laugh.

does any of the young lads on here talk like this?

nope
it would be ok if you could class it as regional dialect but it isnt

this is what is known as chav talk..basically they watch films about gansters or listen to rap and start talking that way

Nope, I'm only 21 and feel as if i dont understand all of this slang going around nowadays with all the youth. I notice it when i go back to london during the weekends, quite a few kids around where i live (not leaving my mini there when its done).

Its like they're speaking like that to impress their mates (FAIL!), chavs annoy me too !!

NEVER!!!, these people are basically 'wannabies'. In other words they want to be like a 'gangster' and are generally the sort that gets all young people steriotyped as what can only be described as a waste of space!!

Another 16 year old here! Never, ever understood the need to add nonsence into a sentence such as "aiiiight, blud/bruv/babe" or when something is "bare good".

As said, all they want to look is "hard" and "cool", maybe to get "credits" of their mates (heard that before, almost laughed when I found out its like "respect")

A girl once asked me for my "digits". I asked her what she meant & said "Your cell phone number silly!" Use of American terms also gets up my back!
