Surely the best course of action here is to return the car to the bodyshop who did the work and give them the oppertunity to correct the defects for you.
You say you are working on a solution between yourself and the bodyshop have they agreed to correct it?
If so surely this is the way ahead?

i think the first question to ask before condeming the paint shop is who did the prep, you or the garage.

i had a car painted a few years back. I was a little concerned over how much paint the guy was using (car painted at my house and i was buying everything). Lacquer went on OK and the car was polished up well. Finish was great until a leathery appearance was observed. Another mate knows a guy who was a lecturer in a college bodyshop, he said most likley cause was far too much paint applied and not enough time allowed for the thinners to come out of the paint in between coats. The paint was probs slightly too soft when the top coat was applied.

All other comments so far sound feasible too. Sounds like the bodyshop 'may' have had someone a little inexperienced put the paint on. We all have to learn and if the job looked good when they released the car i guess they werent to know what was going to happen.

No drama (other than lost time) if they have decent customer service and put it right with minimum fuss. Fingers crossed for you.

just been reading through this again and was wondering how you paid?
if you payed by credit card you can allways get your credit card company to fight your corner if need be :)

if they feel there s a case they will usually refund you and their legal team will then recover their loss from the company :)
you really need to exhaust every other avenue first though to endeavour to get the work rectified.

If you paid by Cash or Cheque you still have the right to have any defective work rectified as everybody else here as said if the bodyshop have agreed to do this you should really take them up on it :P

This will cause flaking, at first paint will start issues little bubbles, then it will crack and flake off.

From the pics looks something like a combination of sinkage (due to hard sanding and poor primer application) and reticulation (due to poor isoltaion before applying top coats).

Hope it will be sorted soon.
