Also, could the elctronic ignition mean I would have to wire this up differantly?

C'mon guys, it looks like I've now got all the bits there, I just need to know how to connect them up! :D

Thanks!

JJ

hi ive an 86 mayfair and its got the 3 clock set up
Id the very same problem with mine only last week.

The fuel temp guage was caused by the smiths voltage regulator (its plugged into the back of the clock, small silver box about the size of a yorkie square of chocolate)

my rev counter was being caused by a wire to the fuse connector corroded badly............
Number 3 fuse..... counting from top to bottom

Hope this helps

Electronic ignition shouldn't make any difference to the wiring of the rev counter.

But those two spare wires that are taped together, does one have a spade connector on the end and the other a bullet connector?

Thanks for the reply! I'll change out the voltage regulator. >_<

I'll take the fuse and spade out on the fusebox out and give the contacts a quick clean; but still, the guage still appears to be wired up wrong!

On the two spare wires (one black and white / one green), one of them has a black box over the end (looks to be a female spade?) and the other one has no fitting.

Does anyone know how the wiring should go for this guage? (nippon seiki?)

Thanks once again! :-

I've not got any images of the rear of the instruments, but I do know they appear in this book which I've seen on the shelf at Halfords: -

So pop into your local Halfords and have a browse. Or buy the book as it looks pretty good and I'm hoping to get a copy for Xmas.

Thanks - I'll probably be buying a load of books (haynes manuals etc) in the next few weeks.

But does anyone know how to wire up this guage with the wires I have? A diagram would be fantastic.

JJ

Right: I have some better pictures. If someone can let me know the correct way of wiring this up, it would be greatly appreciated! :P (although I think it's to blame!, hopefully it will work once wired up correctly)

Rear of the guage:

The wires, not sure which are needed: (forgive the very crude paint notes, it wouldnt let me add text for some reason)

Someone please help! Thanks

Hi mate not sure if you have got this sorted out yet?? but the two wires you have in the loom are the ones you need the green one that has the female spade goes on the spade on the rev counter and the white with the black tracer needs to be connected to the little cut bit that is on the back of your rev counter and that should be it. If not check that the coil has 3 wires there should be a white wire and a white and black wire connected to the same terminal the white and black being the one going to the coil and there should be a earth on the coil to. If that works you can do away with the red wire you have every where. the only thing you should have to do is get bulb holders and bridge in to one of the other bulbs.
i hope this helps
