Just a quick question, do you think it would be worth putting some petrol Redex into my mini? It was on offer for £1.90 at a local garage & i brought some...

Is Redex good stuff?
It hasn't had any in for the last 18yrs of its life :-

Regards,

Luke

I once fed some direct into the carb when i had the 998, it seemed to clear all the crap out of it and ran pretty sweet after that.

yes you can, there are directions on the bottle of how much. There used to have instructions of how to put it your carb and cylinders but that seems to have been replaced by just in the tank instructions these days :-

i personally wouldn't bother with redex, it hardly does anything at all. if you want to use something check this out: http://www.powerenha...uct.php?xProd=2 i use this in all my cars and it acually does what it says and cleans the whole fuel system

If your going to use any additives use Forte, they are only really available to the trade but they appear on ebay and all of their additives are great and do exactly what they say on the tin.

I've added Redex to the petrol in my 998HL over the past 23 years that I've owned it, this began as an experiment & got continued, but I like to think it has something to do with the fact that the engine burns no more oil now (at 100,000 miles) than it did when I bought the car with 15,000 miles on the clock. It uses about 1/2 pint in 3,000 miles which is when it gets changed anyway. Also if I have to remove the head, it is always very clean in there.

Redex for me has worked fine, although if you are using it to clean up exhaust emissions before an MOT, make sure that no redex is still burning in the system, as it makes the exhaust emissions WORSE whilst it is cleaning.

have always used redex in fuel, and occasionally dumped some in the bores & carb - can't swear as to effectiveness in fuel but seems to keep everything going well - burning it off from direct application gets a bit dramatic though the axhaust smoke is awesome - a grey & aromatic version of a completely gone head gasket.
