sorry for such a long dely between posts, i have had a manic couple of months been so busy ans other things cropping up. been fitting some webbers to my brothers car an doing al the mods alongside to get it back on the road as it has been takin up valuable garage space, but i am now gettin back on with mine ! (Thank God !!).
i just wanted to ask you guys, mainly the guys who have a Mid engine mini, or anyone who just knows the answer lol.. what steering rack and column have people opted for ? as far as i am aware to pass the IVA you need a collapsable steering column..?!?!
im sure i have heard people using corsa b ones ? have i heard right,
cheers guys, any light shed on the matter would be awsome,

havent posted in some time now, i have had a winter away from the mini really, which is a shame but just been so busy with work, i have also been studying my Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the same time, and sometimes somethin has to give. But i am now slowly starting to get back on the case and really determined to get working on it again, especially with the nights getting lighter.
I have just got my fibre glass bonnet for the mini....

i have also done more work on the frame, i have created some simple door bars, to allow me to line the frame up and get it all located in position, i have created some reinforcement plates to bolt to the seat belt bolts for extra strength, and a few other things, the next step is to locate the engine and start creating the members to support the engine. pics will follow later tonight or tomorrow when i can get them on.
well just thought i would give a quick update and wish you all a happy new year !

last week, i finally finished uni, and MY GOD what a long hard slug that has been, especially with working full time at the same time, its been ridiculous. The mini has been well an truely neglected an very little work has been done recently. I went down to the garage the other night during one of my first work free evenings and decided to get my head round it all again and where i got to.
most of the roll cage part of the chassis has been comeplete now an tacked together, then next stage is to offer the engine up, get it all level and in the correct position and from here i will start fabricating the tubes to support the engine and provided mounting points for other components, suspension etc. i need to go back to the CAD and a re think to the design as i feel i could probably improve it after my time at uni. i took on a couple of chassis design projects and a dissertation about the worthiness of FEA (finite element analysis) in chassis design, comparing real life test's with that of CAD models. So i will put some models through FEA to see where areas could be improved.
ive still been slowly gathering bits an bobs as i see things, but just not much fabrication taken place....but now, i am a free agent and i am nothin but determined to get it done an on the road. I am hoping to try an get this into a rolling chassis by september and get it to a point where i am just tryin to meet the needs of IVA test requirements by december time.
ill be down the garage again this coming week and weekend so will post up some progress images etc
cheers guys, watch this space !!!

its been a while, been super busy and been messing with my new car,
so i got back down the garage the on sunday to have a tinker, got the bug back and will be on this hard now trying to get it done.
so i did some more work on the frame over the weekend and got the engine located in the right place and at the right height and level. Now this is in place i can start fabricating the framework to support the engine and pick up the mounting points. i have also quickly put together a sproket on a piece of tubing just to locate it at the right height to give me an idea again of spacing. I am going to bring my diff setup back down to the garage over the next couple of days to get it properly located.
not a big update but.....i am back on the case again now !!!!!!
few little pics....

Cheers guys

FINALLY !!! completed my degree and at the same time have moved jobs to work in the Automotive Industry so all this has been taking up most of my time. However this is all done and im free to attack the mini again.
went down to the garage last night and dusted everything off and got back on with it. started by ensuring the mini was mounted level still and carried on with the frame work. Just figuring out some engine mounting points and mounting strategies and looking into suspension pick-up points.
i am going to re-do my cad model to a higher degree of accuracy and re-analyse it.
but my main aim for the post was to say hello again as opposed to any big updates...but they will come !!
