Was imported in 2004 :shifty: Aren't I a clever bunny! I have access to top secret DVLA files, and looked your car up for you :(

Yh right. Here's the truth...
Go on http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/ click vehicle enquiry, type in reg plate and select Rover, press go and this info comes up:

Date of Liability 01 04 2010
Date of First Registration 05 02 2004
Year of Manufacture 1995
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1273CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Export
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour RED

Unsure why It's reg'd as a 1273cc... someone at DVLA must have had a screw loose when registering it!

Hi Dan!

That's indeed a indication for a german Mini!
Our taxes are based on cubic capacity & emissions stuff.

BUT: for some reason capacity is calculated via a different formula than the 'normal' formula...
That's why we have 986cc (=998) and 1273cc (=1275) engines :shifty:

So I guess the just copied what was in the german documents...

Cheers,
Jan

If you look at the original posters pictures of his arches, they extend down to the bumper and have a part resessed (D shaped)in them which the bumper sits in. the german ones also known as bullet arches dont extend down to the bumper level!

no idea why this is!

Ah! I see what you mean... Ok - that's the arches that were fitted to the Silverbullet, Silverstone and Mini 35 limited editions :shifty: The german Sportpack MPIs got the same arches as on the red Mini in this thread  But I didn't know those were a german market only arch :)

Cheers,
Jan

PS: is this your Silverbullet? Very nice! I always had a soft spot for them... The interior is just lovely! :(

Cheers i love the interior too. it was imported in 1997 to Sweden!

its being a bit naughty at the moment with a sticking throttle!!

That's not at all unusual, the reason it's been calculated differently is specifically because of your tax laws. Fiat for example sold the exact same engine in many different official sizes in different countries because of tax laws. Change the number of significant figures in an equation, change the engine size. Simple.

Those arches are unusual in Britain but not unknown. They are Mini Special +1" as far as I can tell, available from Mini Spares. Not Sportspack though, definitely not.

By 1996 there were only two specs to my knowledge, Japan and ROW (rest of world). So there are no unique German oddities like there were in earlier years. Other than the VIN number and where the steering wheel is there would be no way to tell the difference on a model offered in all markets.

Does the date of first registration on the V5 tie up with it being on an N plate?

I will check this... I dont have it with me at the moment...

Cheers

You are a clever boy! Thanks!

so it's actually a 1995 then....

just need to go through the engine to find a plate to check if its the right engine for the car...

Thanks Again!

Jason
