Apart from that Graphite Powder is the best thing for Mini locks as it lubricates the mechanism properly and prevents it freezing too. (Time I invested in some).

just been out there... not good!
using wd 40 and a lighter on my key and stuff no luck!
if i want to get in there do i need to drill out the lock and replace it?
what mk is my mini its a 1989

If you want to get in there, just remove the 4 boot screws from the hinges and the lid will fall off.
It more than likely needs the lock greasing. Just undo the 4 nuts that hold it in, strip clean and regrease.
Salted!!
they have nuts on the inside so may just spin !!

on a more serious note, try unscrewing the hinges there is a nut on the inside of the boot so get a flat blade screwdriver and put it behind the screw head as your undoing it so its keeping the nut tight to the body work at the back and hopefully it will come off
