It's my first L2B and got a couple of questions:


whats the best time to get to crystall palace on the saturday (I'm Camping)
on the sunday morning is it true you have to be up by 3AM!!!

I think you can get to CP any time after 12pm on the sat. Think we got there about 2pm last year. As for the getting up early everyone starts moving their cars into posistion about midnight onwards!! Last year I just stayed up but this year I shall be putting my car in the queue then going back to bed!!

from crystal palace is it sign posted to London or do I need to use the sat nav??

Did you mean Brighton? Just use the sat nav. Once you get near Brighton there are some signs IIRC

are there some local takeaways near??

Yep plenty of them about 5 mins walk up the road or you could go to a restaurant an have a proper sit down meal

and this last one may seem a bit strange but do all the normal road laws apply or is the route cloesed of just for minis???

Nope unfortunately no special route closed for minis (that would be awesome though) just get to Brighton and get stuck in the traffic with everybody else!

as title how far are people coming from for the run?

me and 2 other mins have about a 400 mile round trip quite nervous about it too

lightweights!! last year my car was MOT'd the tuesday before, completely untested and it was i think 512 miles round trip

had no problems either. this year theres 4 of us going down, my dads mk1 which MOT'd last thursday, my sisters mini was done on the same day. and her boyfriend/family knowitall mechanic in his marcos.

should be fun!

Last year we had to do a last minute engine change on mine on the day before the run, we ended up using a manky old rusty 998 with leaky head gasket that had been sitting in the back of our garage under piles of rubbish and bits for far to many years but it still got us to the run and back ok and lasted until mid september before it finally gave up .. .. and in 2008 we took my van which had been off the road for over 5 years it was MOT'd the friday before the run and still made it there and back (although we did have a bit of leaking fuel tank problem )

Minis can be a lot hardier and reliable than a lot of people give them credit for

Quite a long trip for me all the way up from Plymouth, to Portsmouth (mates) and then up to CP. Then back down to Brighton and then all the way back to Plymouth again. I reckon that's going to be in the region of 500-550 miles around.
