Humm, Yellow is a good 70's colour, but with no roof? Will it still look retro chic i wonder?

I will keep an eye on this with great intrigue.

I'm not for one minute saying it's wrong, just can't picture it. :D

I agree, keep it a solid colour, I'm going Arum White for my Hornet saloon, and the pale green for the cabrio, I think, if I ever get that far...

I'm trying to think what might look good, not red - too obvious - maybe the primula yellow?
Or Yukon Grey?

it was that slitgtly mustard yellow so i think I'll stick with that - needs to stand out a bit otherwise it'll get run over by other traffic - maybe I need to buy one of those luminous flags like the recumbants have.......

got the other skin today so should be able to complete that at the w/e, gonna start prepping the interior for painting and change the diff seals because its weeing oil, saw what i thought was a keiths convertible mayfair at minimail but it turns out it was one minimail did ages ago and then keith's convertible's nicked the idea, but I still don't like the big T bar and window surrounds. Minimail really are a good company - luckily its only a few miles away for me

second door wasn't so easy due to distortion of the frame so the door will need a bit of "fitting" before it goes back on - found some of the cellulose i used on the original rebuild so have started to brush paint the inside - doesn't matter about the finish too much because it will all be covered in carpet and seats - also did a bit more strengething around the pillars and some seam sealing

not much to report really - doors are done - a bit more welding done and now starting to prep for painting, was going to rub down and respray but have decided to go bare metal jus so theres no contamination, at least I dont have to do the roof now!
Scuttle and windscreen suuround are in really good condition considering they are original - the steel must have been stronger in the 70's from what I've seen of the some of the 90's minis here, amazingly when i took the windscreen out there was still liquid in the seal - she's been dry stored for two years!

I can't believe you chopped the roof off! Brave stuff, but awesome metal work skills!

I can't wait for the front end on my wreck to look like yours. Are you using a sanding disc on an angle grinder to strip the paint?

i've tried everything - stripper, discs etc and the best and cheapest and quickest - although you have to be very careful not to mark the metal - is fine grit discs on a angle grinder, i also used scotch brite discs on a ag and although its effective without too much marking it works out expensive, where the metals marked I use a Da with 80 grit to get it smooth, paint stripper is truly a waste of money and effort for stipping big areas
