In my opinion I prefer early mini's (Mk1.2 and 3's) in standard colours.

But later more widespread models some of the custom colours choosen look great.

By mk1 colours do you mean like speedwell blue and old english white, there pretty much the same coulors just an ever so slite difference!!

Yes that's right.
Personally I do not like metalic's on Mk1's and 2's

Everyones opinions are different. I for example have one of each. Doris is the 1970's colour BMC Aqua, I wouldn't dream of changing this, it's part of her history and as one of the earliest Clubman estates it would be wrong of me to change it. She is as she would of come out of the factory.
Where as Luna is very different, she has been painted with House of Kolor paint (the stuff used in the Fast and Furious films) but it really suits her. Her mods are minimal (alloys and w&p arches externally)
I think the simple answer is on some cars it's a good thing to keep the original colours and on others they look great in non mini colours. At the end of the day the mini is yours, make it what you want it to be

Iv just sprayed mine in renault liquid yellow! Its got pearls and gold dust within the paint so gives a beautiful shine in the sun!

I think as long as your happy and love the colour then what's the problem! Put your own stamp on it!
