Get a shell acid dipped and ecoated, then after paint, waxoyl everything in sight! Galvanising would ruin a shell.

look into hot zinc gavinising i had my subframes done cost me £80 left them out for months over winter not a spot of rust
i had the shell sandblasted and im still repairing/modifing it but im thinking of having it done the same way didnt watch the subframes being done but ... i think its done by a flame type gun that maybe!!! melts a zinc rod and throws it on to the subframe / shell how ever its done it works and the heat is not as harsh as dip gavinising

I'm attempting to hold off the inevitable rust on my Mini. Used a rust paint called POR15 that creates a waterproof bond with the metal. Expensive and a bit of a PITA to use, but seems to be a good end result. Slows things down, anyhow.
A guy I was talking to mentioned the metal protectant applied to the subway cars built locally. He gave me the name but I can't recall what it is...like an undercoating for metal. Hardens on, I guess. Has a 10 or 20 year guarantee to it. You can apparently buy it by the drum here.
