Join a local club if you havent. My current Mini I bought a couple of years back now, from a mate at a club. It had 6 months test on it, a bit scabby, and apparently it "didnt run". Turns out it hadnt been driven in 6 months and the fuel was nearly a year old. £200 and a gallon of clean petrol later, In drove her home! Ok, she cost £300 for her next MOT but that included welding, 2 tyres, tuning etc so I dont think £500 for a running Mini is too bad! If you do your own maintainence and checking over on it, re-commisioning a Mini, it lets you KNOW you havent been ripped off. I had a nasty issue 5 years ago last week where a car nearly killed me after being bodged. I paid market value for it, but it was made of filler. If I had re-commisioned a tatty car then rather than buying a "tidy" one then I wouldnt have a limp.

After many questions asked and answered on this forum a month later she
was MOTd and (touch wood) has bombed about Birmingham ever since.
Has her own weather system inside at the moment though - floors lined with newspaper,
I think the heater matrix has gone

The bloke who owned it before me had just spent a fortune having new panels fitted then his daughter said she didnt want it, so he phoned my bf and asked if he wanted it but i beat him to it.
the 1st time i saw it was when i paid him for it.
