Also with the name i will probs keep it the same :D keep the tradition of the cars name :D

Well, in that case here is a little history of the man that the Mini was named after.

My Grandfather "Joseph Holley" aka "Freck" was born in Lorraine Ohio sometime around 1920. He eventually migrated to Titusville Pennsylvania with his family where he grew up. During WWII he enlisted in the US Army where he was a "Combat Engineer". He first landed on some RAF base here in England then eventually made his way to Africa to fight the Nazi's there. Afterwards he ended up in France where he single handedly captured 12 Nazi's that had ambushed his platoon. For this he was awarded a "Silver Star". My Grandfather reached the rank of "E-5" or Sergeant. He saw alot during the second great war, most of which he probably wished he'd never had seen. He was among the many that stormed the beaches of Normandy, his job was to build bridges and other structures....under fire! Anyhow, he always had a thing for British cars...he owned one but I can't remember what it was called, it was a convertible and REALLY small. It was imported for sale in the states. Anyhow, once I got here and got the Mini I instantly thought of my Grampa Joe....

Here is a link to his old Battalion for those that like history.

Once you get him lay out a plan then go from there! Figure out "how" you want to restore him....do you like the "retro" style or do you prefer a more modern style? Maybe you fancy a hybrid such as dropping in a VTEC. Although being so young your insurance will play a big role in how Freck is restored. Once you decide which route you want to go then you need to get stuff lined up. Tools, help, manuals, parts etc...then plan time to start the build and time to document everything. I'm going to be doing a pretty good thread on Dexter, but I am planning on getting him as close to finished as possible FIRST. That way I have lots of details already documented for the thread. Regardless, just come up with a plan and consult whomever is going to help you with it and find out what is "within reach" (experience-wise). An example would be I'm not much of a welder....I understand how to do (as I come from a family of welders and have been exposed to it alot growing up) but have never actually done it so I need to get help in that area. Anyhow, see you this weekend!

Hats off to you Mr ToD. There certainly isn't many people like you about just giving away minis.

You'll have to change your status to Someone Gave This uy a Mini, Frozo (and for all you rude minded people out there, that wasn't a euphamism >_<).

Andrew

Frozo,

I decided to include the Stage 1 exhaust. I was going to keep it but I am going with stainless duals on Dexter so Freck is coming with the LCB and a good back box. It's a little tatty looking but a good sanding and a lick of heat resistant paint and BAM! Clean stage 1 exhaust for free!

Yeppers! You can actually see it in one of the pictures. I haven't taken it off yet as I was debating about using it but my plans have changed so it's staying on for you.
