only problem is it may be slightly costly depending on what gets done.. obviously your inner wings will have to be chopped and tidyed and also the things on those inner wings would have to be relocated so... u'd have to see really.lol

Hi all,

Anyone got some plans on how to make brackets for a flip up front, seen the MichaelKerry link but no detailed plans with measurements etc, it would be really cool if someone had some measurements...

Many thanks in advance...

As for the legality, NO! It immediately makes you require an IVA test, because it is altering the monocoque, despite what has been said here by an idiot from VOSA who should know better. The location of the subframe front mounts, which carry significant load, makes the front end primary structure.

Also, it is certainly illegal unless you have told your insurance company all about it,because otherwise you will not be insured.

if you keep the inner wings you do not need a IVA test

VOSA have deemed the front panel and front wings not a structural part of a mini

but the floppy inner wings are

If I were to do a flip front I would do it how I have seen on a pic on google, front panel is fixed as per normal, fitted to inner wings then the bonnet and both wings rise up like a big bonnet and the seams between the front panel and wings are where it shuts, which gets around removing inner wings, but its a lot of work!

Bungle, I know that a complete idiot from VOSA said that the wings are not structural, but if there is an accident and someone was killed it would be the owner of the car, not VOSA, who was up in court, which is why I would never trust that advice. In any case it contradicts their own rules. By definition, every part of the shell is a part of the monocoque, even if hardly stressed at all, and the rule applies to cutting the monocoque, not just stressed parts of it.

I would like that idiot from VOSA to be made to drive a Mini with just the front teardrop mounts removed. No need to even cut the monocoque. The first rapid takeoff will cause both toeboard mounts to de-bond, and from then on it is rapidly downhill until the bulkhead crossmember fails.
