Well, have been looking into getting mini painted but was getting stoopid quotes for it (£1000+)
So decided on the old skool roller painting tecnique...
Spent 4 days preping her...then off to Dingbro to get the paint (same paint they roller paint the buses with) and a box offoam 4'' rollers
Then got started...




After the 1st coat...





Then the result!
Im super pleased... cant even tell its been rollered!









Total cost £48 (1.5L paint,rollers,masking tape)
So for very little money and a week of labour (20 hrs)
im well chuffed and have saved a fortune!

Great job mate!! I'm gonna do this to our daily car soon, its just not worth getting a super expensive job done!!

Its well worth doing mate!
Cost's very little and i still have paint left from 1.5L, its just the effort for perping the car and taking time to get the paint on properly!
Ended up doing 3 coats on the body and 5 on the roof, but has turned out amazing, looks just like a spray job but a fraction of the cost!
No orange peel anywhere, just a smooth shiny finish all over.
Going to leave it a week or so for the paint to properly harden the wet & dry it then G3 polish it

It automotive enamel gloss paint, they use it to paint the buses with at work, supplied form a local motor factor (£23 per L) I still have some left for 1.5L!

Nope, didn't have to thin the paint, just stir and then pour,most local motor factors will supply i think, has a super finish and shine
Aye, prob will leave it a bit longer, been -4 here last couple weeks! No hurry, it shining as it is!

Prep was sanding down the previous paint to the etch primer that was already on the shell, apart from front wing, most of that was back to bare metal.
Then rub down entire shell to remove any imperfections, then complete wipe down for dust/odd bits of crap...
Then masking tape on whatever's not getting stripped and off you go...!

what sort of rollers did you use? and do you have to sand it flat between coats or did you litteraly roller it on and let it dry?

The rollers were 4'' foam rollers, screwfix direct stock them.
I rubbed down some small bubbles & imperfections between coats to cover with the next coat.
You can pretty much roller layer on layer without much rubbing down though.
As long as the bodywork is properly prepedand rub down any imperfections between coats then you shouldn't run into any problems!
