What a strange question, i'm struggling to make mine quiter, and i've already got 2 silencers..
Anyway:

Manifolds:
Cooper freeflow = deeper
LCb = throatier

Fit a cone air filter, a single box center exhaust, then you'll became deaf in no time...

I see, so a cone air filter, single box exhaust.

what about manifold etc etc.

also i see on minispares about downpipes and that do these affect the noise?

As i said, maniflods affect the type of noise the exhaust will make.
The Cooper freeflow makes a deeper sound, while the LCB makes a throathier noise (and gives better performance at midrange/hi revs, so more suitable on big bore engines).
If you're swapping the standard manifold for an upgraded exhaust manifold, then you need a new inlet manifold, i reccomend an MG metro inlet manifold or an alloy repro, it actually makes a difference over the standard cast manifolds.

I can rate RC40 and maniflow, very good.
If you get a mild steel exhaust, give it a lick of barbecue paint to prolong its life and avoid external rusting.

Which would you rate best though out the 2?
Which gives a nicer noise

Its up to your own taste, they're similar exhausts, i have an RC40 centre exit with a 2,25" tailpipe and it has a deep beefy sound.
