I jacked the N/S up, and put it in 1st gear and turned the wheel CLOCKWISE to move the rockers.

Very clear and simple explanation there, i want to try it on mine when i get it thought with only 18k on is it worth it? Also when you say number 1 is rad end is that inlet or exhaust valve, and which of the 2 are nearest to the front of the car say? might be a daft question lol.
Also how do you know the valve is fully closed is it obvious? do you need to look at any timing marks on engine or anything?

Heres how i done it
number 1 valve is the closest to the N/S (rad) 8 is the furthest
1 open (you can see its fully depressed)... adjust number 8...etc
Dont get confused with open.....open means the valve is depressed (not teaching anyone to suck eggs, but trying to put it in laymans terms)...for us numptys
Also, i would suggest doing it for the sake you know its correct....and WOW I can defently notice the difference...seems like more resposive and more power back...yayyyy
