i'll quite happily shunt you into someones front garden with my van if you start vandalising it, like i did with the chav that decided to sit in my nearside blindspot (vans have quite a big one of those), and then went mental because i turned left infront of him. Next time someone cuts you up, just think about whether they can actually see you as you ride on there wing (as most bikers tend to do these days), you never know, it might be your fault in the first place!

my dad is a HGV driver so i am aware of the blind spots and always leave ample space, but he is always saying that the test should include HGV and van blind spots and not many people know this could be included in the theory part of the test some how as when i did it back in september there was nothing at all on this subject

I think theres a scheme now where drivers are offered a free ride around on a bike (maybe a CBT I'm not sure) in an effort to raise awareness.

Theres also that ad on tv at the moment, depicting riders with their name/details shown above them also geared towards raising awareness of bikers on the roads.

What do people think of motorcycles driving between two lanes of stationary traffic, eg. dual carriageway at rushhour. A biker drove up the white lines between two lanes recently and hit my wing mirror knocking it flat againt the door, drove way too close to my car, I hadnt moved for a few minutes so it was completley their misjudgement. I was talking to my mate who rides and they where quite sympathetic saying riders will do this but remain spacially aware and alert to cars manouvering/changing lanes. I can understand how conveniant it is not having to wait but from what I've seen it seems as though as a generalisation people on bikes will shoot between the lanes not leaving themselves much of a gap (or room for error), I wouldn't have thought this would be considered good practice?

Not meaning to come off as the ignorant type, but there's a lot of situations in which talking on the phone is acceptable. There are drivers who are good enough to talk and drive, or else simply talking in a car would be banned.

That video is very exaggerated. They're using the most extreme of circumstances.

"Imagine you are texting while driving, and then you don't see this child walk out into the road with his new puppy, and you hit them, they go flying across the street and hit an old lady who happened to be passing by, who also dies, and as she falls to the ground she crushes a midget standing behind her, seriously injuring him, and the subsequent death of this old lady leads to the death of her pet fish. Meanwhile, your car has gone careering into an orphanage, sending the whole place alight, and your lifeless body, now flying through out the windscreen and into the air for a short flight, has unfortunately hit a rare and endangered form of owl, which subsequently dies thus meaning its owl babies die too."

Circle of life perhaps? Maybe humans are playing God a little too much these days, if you don't mind me getting a tad philosophical.

bloody for drivers! 10 a penny in that video

and the thing on motorbikes, i personally HATE them on the road. i had one on a dual carriageway trying to overtake me while i was going into a layby to turn right. complete arse if you ask me, he proceeded to squeeze his way through the gap between me and the railings then revved his engine for a few seconds at the side of my open window

i wasnt happy at this and got out and pulled him off it

if he wants to act like that in the first place, then make out its my fault then he deserved it

As a complete "old fart" I can't see the point of texting in the first place. If you want to communicate with someone, why not talk to them? Handsfree with voice dialling is perfectly safe. No more dangerous than listening to the radio and singing along or talking to a passenger. These systems are available to bikers as well.

As far as biker safety is concerned ( and I say this as I've held a full bike licence for 40 years) they do very little to help themselves. I see many without headlight on, wearing dark leathers/clothing and using their speed in inappropriate ways. I enjoy riding bikes, but would not dream of accelerating hard up to the rear of a car then swerving out to overtake. Bikers are vunerable and should do all they can to protect themselves. Any talk of kicking a car or running a biker off the road is stupid as it brings both parties into fault. All drivers, car and bikers, should use the roads with more care and curtousy shown to all.

its easier to text when at work. were not supposed to use our mobiles at work so a crafty 'check for answer when possible text' works great

Could be worse

Didn't like the unrealisticness of it, ie car driving on the wrong side of the road, and they hit the stationary mondeo curb side. Luckily I think most of the actors had easy parts to play (dead) if not it could of been alot worse. Also what happened to the airbag after it deployed, and just how many windows got smashed in the Ka. They must of spent a year filming that, without looking at what theyd previously filmed and bad memories.

Stuff like this in my opinion, (maybe as it doesn't bother me) is just a waste of time, and wouldn't change my driving habits, not that I have any dangerous ones. I also think having other teens in your car is half the problem.
